This book is so timely and provides much needed teaching for all who have "an ear to hear and a heart to understand" its content. The author lays such a balanced and sound foundation that will assist the body of Christ in successfully going through "the process" of becoming financially educated. The light shed by the excellent teaching from God's word will definitely result in the adherer becoming a more mature and spiritually enlightened believer. This book is power packed, loaded with biblical truth so relevant especially in this time and season. I highly recommend this volume for everyone who desires true prosperity....being blessed so that you can be a blessing.
There is Corn in Egypt by Joseph Young was written with the sincere desire to educate believers on how to prevail from the woes of financial ignorance. This book absolutely delivers. Minister Young does not teach a one size fits all solution to his audience. With vigor he places the importance of responsibility and financial education at the forefront of this book. Using the biblical story of Joseph (the son of Jacob), Minister Young carefully unravels the process of Egypt's deliverance from famine while teaching the provision for our own financial deliverance.
Money is a very sensitive topic among the Church, and though this author is a leader in the Church he did not take this opportunity to be accusatory or greedy. It's clear; Minister Young's intentions are to uplift believers to be financially wise. Minister Young also uses this platform to identify and correct false biblical interpretations of money. Overall, I found this book to be realistic and motivating. I applaud the author for his honesty and integrity concerning this subject. I highly recommend this book.
There Is Corn in Egypt is a short, easy to read and understand book that helps someone who is facing financial hardships look at things in a different light. Using the life of Joseph, Mr. Young incorporates the many difficulties Joseph had to go through to become the person God wanted him to be. Second in command in Egypt.
This isn't a workbook that will take a person step by step through the financial problem but will help the reader have an identity change with the right heart attitude. This is a Biblical approach to seeing the problem. Packed with plenty of Biblical references, this is a book that will challenge its reader to focus on changing their attitudes and mindsets in the midst of trials and hardships.
Although this is a quick read, take your time and dwell on the nuggets of wisdom this book contains. Things like
- Stop looking for the fast path and look for the process.
- People pray about their financial difficulties (haven't we all?) and yet refuse to change. To achieve financial success, you must make changes.
- Money will not solve your problems. You must fix the problem first. Things will only change when God brings you out of your comfort zone.
- There are answers to our personal financial famines.
This book would actually be a great addition to a homeschooling family who wants to incorporate Biblical teaching on money, and with a little effort and creativity on the teacher/parent's side, a study guide could be implemented. I plan on using mine as a devotional this year.

The author writes "The one thing we can do concerning our money issues is to deal with our illiteracy of it and embrace knowledge. God provided corn in Egypt he'll provide the same for you. The provision may not be money upfront but knowledge."
The financial advice is supported by scripture as well as references to financial texts. Near the end, he says this "This book was not written to excite the love of wealth and riches or to down anyone with or without riches. I am not promoting bitterness against poverty or towards the way people in church handle or think about money. My purpose here is to try to find words in an effort to stimulate the mind of every person who may read these words to come to a better understanding and hunger after answers to the financial wilderness they might be going through."
The book is short, but full of useful information. I would have liked it to talk more about practical ways of solving personal financial problems, but the approach used may be more useful to those looking for Biblical references.
