Lord of War Black Angel The de Russe Legacy Book 1 edition by Kathryn Le Veque Romance eBooks
I have finished yet another one of Kathryn's books and stand in awe of an author who can consistanly turn out one book after another that just seems to get better and better. I admit to being a die hard medieval romance fan, which only means that I'm a crazy over the top fan of Kathryn Le Veque; because in my humble opinion she is the 'Queen of Medieval'. I so enjoy how she weaves characters from previous books into her stories without always making them sequeals. This is the story of one of Gaston de Russe's ancestors (Gaston being my most favorite character of all of Kathryn's stable of hunky Knights from 'The Dark One; Dark Knight' and 'The White Lord of Wellesbourne', two of my most Favorite books of Kathryn's.) I need to say here that all of KLVs books are stand alone books. The characters are very well developed and multi-dimensional.
The hero of the story, Brandt, is handsome, fierce, big, and a passionate warrior.... what more could you want in a Medieval Hero? The leading Lady in the book is Ellowyn. She is a real spit fire and can handle just about anything that comes her way, which gets her in alot of trouble. The lady doesn't appear to be afraid of anything, but she meets her match in Brandt. There is alot of humor through out the book and lots of gory battle scenes with some really good subcharacters as well.
I would have liked it even better if it had not ended so abruptly, but she she does finish it with a wonderful epilogue. Hopefully we see more of the de Russe clan in the future.;)Hint, hint! I hope you choose to buy and read this delightful story, because I highly recommend it!

Lord of War Black Angel The de Russe Legacy Book 1 edition by Kathryn Le Veque Romance eBooks Reviews
I adore this author...and even though this story was thrilling and a "glued to your seat" page turner...it lacked the captivating commanding performance of some of her previous books I've read... Like Dragonblade (The Dragonblade Trilogy Book 1), or The Dark Lord (The Titans) or Spectre of the Sword. But please don't get me wrong...this story is SO WORTH the time and effort to read...it just didn't overwhelm like many of Ms. Le Veque's works do. It was as if Ms. Le Veque was maybe having an "off day".
Lady Ellowyn de Nerra is one stubborn and feisty gal. She's highly opinionated and very intelligent. She has a determination that few men possess. She's also a marvel of womanhood with her waist length strawberry blond hair and deep green luscious eyes. Her beauty draws suitors from all corners of the kingdom...men flock just to get a glimpse of her. She cares for none of them.
Lord Brandt de Russe, Duke of Exeter is an enormous warlord known throughout several countries and highly respected. He is the "Black Angel"...the dark Angel of Death himself. His colossal, deep thunderous voice rumbles with authority when he speaks. He's extremely handsome with his hazel stone eyes and inky black hair. He's wealthy, powerful, fearless, courageous and very intense...and he allows few men to get close to him. He's also Prince Edwards right hand man in the war against France and is completely loyal to the Prince...then he meets Lady Ellowyn de Nerra.....(dum-dum-duuuuum).
There were many aspects and parts of this story that were reminiscent of other books I've read...so familiar were certain scenes that I had to stop to see if I had in fact, purchased this book once before. But I hadn't...this was a first read. Still, I knew parts of the story before they happened! Strange...
This Author describes Lady Ellowyn & Lord Brandt so perfectly. I absolutely loved their strong characters. And I loved how Ms. Le Veque painstakingly draws the reader into this sweet, intriguing, historical plot and leads us, inch by wonderful slow inch, through each step and phase of romantic progression. There's no rush and because of her talented capabilities..because of her expert writing, the reader has no choice but to feel connected as one with the main characters...there is no other alternative but to fall into the emotional excitement facing Ellowyn and Brandt. The journey is absolutely exquisite and delightful.
It was a stroke of genius how Ms. Le Veque interwove previous characters' now grown children (from her other stories) into this plot. Fabulous! The downside is that many words are used wrongly "moving in the knight" (night)...or "pouring (poring) over her work" and "scene (seen) many acts of war" etc. Either updated editing software is needed or revert back to editing readers. Still, Ms. Le Veque left no holes or loose threads. Her strength of vision to the ending is unparalleled.
As usual Kathryn has done it again. The Lord of War Black Angel was magnificent. What a great story. It was such an easy read. Both characters were great. Even Brennan had me cracking up with the bags and the carriage. You cannot go wrong with Ms. Le Veque's novels. They are exceptional. I cannot wait for the next one.
Update I listened to the audio book of The Lord of War Black Angel and I finished it today January 7, 2014. I have to say I have read all of Kathryn Le Veque's Medieval books and this is her first audible book. I truly loved the narrator, he kept me enthralled the whole time. It was such a great experience for me, listening to the narrator had my emotions going the whole time. It was by far the best audio book I have ever listened to I connected my Fire to my Bluetooth speaker at home and it was great. You need to purchase this book in its audible format and you will see what a grand experience it is.
This was an intriguing Medieval romance filled with knights, bloody battles, love and loss. I loved Brandt, the Black Angel, who is a battle hardened warrior for Prince Edward and the might behind his campaign against the French. When he meets Ellowyn, he has met his match in this fiery redhead with a stubborn streak and a temper to match. The two of them have a sweeping romance that is filled with passion, love, humor and conflict. Though I enjoyed Ellowyn's spirited personality for the most part, there were times when she bordered on spoiled and annoying. Yet, the relationship between her and Brandt grew as the story progressed and I felt that she grew along with it and matured as a character. They became a force to be reckoned with, loving each other with fierce passion. I loved how Brandt, who had never experienced love in his life, developed such deep and caring feeling for his wife. There were such tender moments between them and some of the humorous moments only added to the realism of their relationship. This engrossing and entertaining tale was my first from Kathryn Le Veque, but it won't be my last.
