Starling Secrets of the Eternal Rose Fiona Paul Books

I've read all three books, which is necessary to follow the plot and to have some closure to it. I love the historical vividness, the excellent characters, the wild ride. This is a "young adult" series, but very fine reading for adults looking for historical fiction, romance, and adventure
All that being said, I can only give STARLING, the third book, a mediocre rating. Cass, Falco, and Luca are emblazoned in my mind as dynamic, exciting characters. But this book got too preachy in tying up the story. A lot of other characters are equally breath-taking, but too many of them were eliminated. Somehow, I didn't feel the breath-taking excitement at the conclusion that was there for the first two and a half books.

That being said, DEFININTELY read the series Reading it had me imagining actually being their in that dangerous and exciting historical period in Venice and Florence. Ma. Paul is the best young writer to come along for a decade or so. I eagerly anticipate her future writings, hopefully even a fourth book in this series that unties some of those ttoo-perfect resolutions.

Starling Secrets of the Eternal Rose Fiona Paul Books Reviews

Amazing book and I will read all three again they captured me in that much.
Good read if you ever want an airplane book
I absolutely loved this series, and I'm so sad to see it end! I'm very pleased with the ending, and Cass couldn't have picked a better man to spend the rest of her life with. Throughout all the books, Cass was such a strong character and that certainly doesn't change in Starling. I'm going to miss her adventures!
This book is amazing. It's a beautiful story that has been beautifully written. I'm so sad that it's over. I love the characters and the twists and turns to get where they are going. I give this book 5 stars because it's not just a murder mystery or romance or adventure, it's a life in and if it's own. I'd recommend this book to everyone I own and I actually started reading it because I found Venom at half price books. These books have been my birthday gift to myself and I couldn't be happier. Cass and Luca will always be in my heart.
I didn't really like the firs one (Venom). I thought it was slow and not too interesting and I suffered a little with its translation... but it was interesting enough to wait for the second part, which I enjoyed very much... and I could hardly wait the third part. I read some of the pre-reviews on GoodReads and thought I would go mad, if cannot get it soon... and at least I had it! I got everything from this book I hoped, expected, wanted. There was historical romance and suspense, loveable heroes (though Cass was not my favourite but Luca and Falco were just perfect male characters), quite a lot excitement, beautiful pictures of Venice... etc.
The only thing I don't like is this horrible book cover. My English is too poor to express how feel about this... this plain and ugly and detestable cover that missing any fantasy, especially after the first two beautiful ones.
What an amazing way to end the story! I bought this as soon as I found out that the third book was out, and I was not disappointed. Finally we get to learn what happens to Luca after he gets arrested, as well as if the romance between Falco and Cass gets even steamier in this one.
The growth of Cassandra is beautiful and how she grows to love her true love is amazing. (No Spoilers ) )
I couldn't have asked for a better ending, I went through an emotional rollercoster and felt everything the Cass felt as she went through her journey.
Beautiful imagery, and being able to share in Cass's adventure was breathtaking. I was sad to have it end but I couldn't have been more happy at HOW it ended.
Love love love love love love love. That is what I want to say about this book, but since that isn’t really helpful, I’ll expand. Starling was everything I hoped for in the conclusion and so much more. It was another fantastic addition to the series and honestly pulled me in from beginning to end.

Cass is such a wonderful heroine and I love the woman she grew into over the course of the series. The girl we met in Venom is so different from the woman we end up with in Starling. I loved watching her grow and bloom into such a wonderful, strong, courageous, and deadly smart woman; especially considering her time period. She goes to incredible lengths for those she loves and even in the face of death and seemingly insurmountable circumstances she stays strong and uses her brains to get out of those situations.

Then we have Falco and Luca and this is seriously one of the best love triangles I have ever read. I started out all about Falco, but then somewhere along the lines I fell hard for Luca and it snuck up on me. Something happens to threaten Luca and Cass, and when it did, it broke me. That is when I realized how much I had come to love Luca and it was weird because I NEVER change my mind when it comes to book boyfriends. So this was a first. And well, I can’t truly say I changed my mind because I still adore Falco, more I wanted everyone to be happy because I had come to love them both so much. Unfortunately, one of them had to be left behind and while it BROKE me to read that scene, I was also happy with the choice Cass made because it was the right choice for her.

What I love most about this series is that the heroine takes care of herself. She doesn’t need to rely on a guy and a guy does not need to be present to help drive the story. Cass drives the story all by herself. I also love the mystery and surprises along the way. I love how slowly the story unravels and that I piece everything together a little at a time. The author did such a wonderful job bringing all the pieces together and wrapping each and every one of them up at the end. It was a beautiful conclusion.

Starling was the perfect ending to this beautiful series. I am so sad to see it end, but I look forward to visiting Renaissance Italy with Cass, Falco, and Luca again.
